Save the Baby Shower Date – Timing is Everything
Most baby showers are given after the seventh month. I think the perfect time is in the eighth month for several reasons. This allows time for the new mom to assimilate all the new gifts into the baby’s layette and room. If she didn’t get everything she needs, she still has time before the baby comes to get it.
If you’ve planned your shower for the week or two before the birth day, you take the risk of baby coming early. You’ll have to reschedule the party for at least a month later in order to let the new mommy to recuperate. The new mom will have to wait for the needed items, and she may go out and purchase them in the meantime. The newborn outfits that guests may have already purchased might be outgrown a month later.
Of course it might be better to wait until baby arrives to have the shower such as if the mom-to-be is on complete bed rest or the mommy fears she’ll be too exhausted to deal with the shower late in her pregnancy. Some new moms want to show off their little bundle and would prefer to wait. So ask the mommy-in-waiting what she prefers.
Whatever obstacles you overcome when scheduling the baby shower, make sure you send out invitations in time, and a nice touch is send a Save the Baby Shower Date card or magnet to remind the guests of the impending party.
You can have Save the Date cards customized for your baby shower, and they’re ecomonical too.
