Baby Shower Decoration Ideas – From Simple to Elegant
Baby shower decoration ideas can be as simple as balloons and streamers, or very elaborate depending upon your budget, shower theme, and your energy.
Before deciding upon decorations you need to have the budget, shower theme, and the location already decided upon. You will want to select baby shower decorations that go with your theme and shower colors. By knowing your location, you’ll be able to decide how much space you can devote to decorating. And of course, by using a budget, you won’t blow everything on decorations and not have enough for cake.
You can purchase baby shower decorations online or you can create your own. Or do a little of both. Below I have listed some cute ideas that you can pick and choose from like a smorgasbord.
For the most basic baby shower decorations the following are recommended. The basics are not expensive. You can add other décor to really personalize the shower. As you can see below, there really isn’t much you need in order to throw a great baby shower.
Baby Shower Streamers
Crepe paper streamers are cheap and come in every color in the rainbow. Buy two colors that match your baby shower theme. If you only have one color, pick white for your second color. Put the two colors together and twist for a pretty effect. Now string the twisted paper across the center of ceiling, from corner to corner, letting the paper drape down from the ceiling about six inches. Do the same in the other two corners to create a huge X across the ceiling. If you want, you can pin a cute decoration where the X meets. You’ll probably need to use a push pin into the ceiling, especially if the decoration is not feather light as it will pull down the streamers.
You can drape the streamers anywhere that you think will look festive, such as on the staircase, on the cake table, gift table or hang it on the chandelier.
Baby Shower Balloons
Like streamers, balloons give you a lot of bang for your buck. And nothing says festive like balloons do. And like streamers, pick colors of balloons that match the colors of your baby shower. Tie two or three together and use them as part of the table centerpiece. Or tie them on the backs of chairs. You can also simply let them float from the ceiling.
You can use your dining room table, kitchen table, coffee table, buffet table, or whatever table you chose. This is where you will set the food. You should have a centerpiece that complements your shower theme, even if your theme is as simple as pink for a girl or blue for a boy. The centerpiece is really only limited by your creativity. Many people just use the shower cake as the centerpiece. That’s what I did when I gave my daughter a shower. You can also use streamers on the table in coordinating colors. A Place for Baby Shower Gifts
If the table you are using for food is large and your shower is small, you can use the same table as your food serving table. If using a separate table for gifts, decorate it to coordinate with your food table. This table doesn’t need to have a centerpiece because it will probably be covered in gifts. And it doesn’t even need to be a table. If you have a bassinet, cradle, or stroller, you can use it to load in the gifts. They can even spill out onto the floor.

Baby Shower Napkins and plates
Tableware is part of your baby shower decorations. Party supply stores sell cute coordinating napkins, paper plates, and cups in all sorts of baby shower designs. And if you can’t find a design that you like, just stick with the colors of your shower and get plain colored party ware.
So there you have it! The basics. Even if you do nothing else to decorate you’ll still have a great looking shower. But if you want to ramp it up a notch, just add one or two suggestions from the list of decorating ideas or add a cute centerpiece.

Several of my aunts gave me things I didn’t think about nenideg. Like one aunt gave me our pack n play which we registered for but also got us sheets to go with it which we didn’t. It didn’t even occur to me that I would need those! We also got several hand made blankets and an adorable step stool one of my aunts painted. Hand made stuff is always nice, to me at least. Also small frames and magnetic frames were nice because they were perfect for my desk at work.One thing I wish I had thought of was I registered a lot of newborn and 0-3 month cloths but not a lot in bigger sizes. To me newborn sized cloths were useless, my daughter outgrew them inside 2 months, most of them she’d worn maybe twice before they were too small. And by the time my daughter was 3 months I was frantically buying a boat load of cloths. Thank goodness there were several church rummage sales in my area at that time or I would have gone broke! So, the cloths I got in bigger sizes were a God send. I wish I had registered for more.
